bulk

Sara let Audrey and I tag along to Costco today so I could check out bulk items for cheap prices. I didn't even know she took this picture she posted on Jack and Emma's blog because I was so busy looking at birthday cake options. The one I ordered sounds delightful. Too bad Audrey and I can't eat it. It has dairy, of course.

Jack, Audrey and Emma composing a masterpiece before heading out.

safety, hello!

We finally installed the gate at the top of the stairs. No more worries about potential tumbles down the staircase.

Channamom stopped by yesterday to drop off supplies for the family party and Audrey's birthday present.
Thank you Channamom!

noodles!

After Audrey finished up her dinner of squash and oatmeal, we let her have some of our meal. With pasta we tend to cut her portion into very small pieces before handing any over. Tonight I gave her some longer pieces and instructed "slurp!" but she just looked at me like I was crazy. After sitting through a quick demonstration, the girl picked it up and was soon slurping her noodles as if she'd been doing it her whole life...

a teacher and a zookeeper

After braving Trader Joe's for thanksgiving dinner supplies today, we spent the afternoon with Sara, Jack and Emma. First we went to the library so Emma could pick up a raffle prize she had won. Jack and Emma were to cute telling the librarian their thanksgiving plans, their future jobs and what movies they like to watch. Audrey made friends with other babies while they played in the kids area. It was getting crowded at the library so we headed to Barnes and Noble, making a stop for snacks at Corner Bakery. Audrey tried to join in with the big kids while they played with trains and looked at books.

Sara took this picture back at her house. Audrey is showing that she is so big. Jack and Emma are imitating a sign Audrey had been doing earlier in the day.

facing forward

A recap of our last three days...

Today Audrey rode in the car facing forward for the first time. We put her toddler seat in and decided to face it forward since there are only two weeks until her birthday. Todd and I were more excited about it than she was.

Yesterday Todd and I took Audrey to get professional pictures taken. She had fun posing for the photographer and several cute shots resulted. We had to wait way too long for everything: taking the pictures, viewing the pictures and printing the pictures. Unlike me, Audrey patiently waited and found ways to entertain herself.

On Friday Susan came over and then Audrey and I went to lunch with her.
We haven't seen Susan for a while and it was nice to catch up.

meow

Even though Todd and I are cat people, Audrey already likes dogs. She gets excited every time she hears the neighbor's dogs bark and she can say puppy. She doesn't want to wear her cat ears either.

new favorite

Audrey really likes to play with the lint roller. She actually rolls it on surfaces and picks up lint. The girl does not mess around.

fall photo ops

I have been in awe for days at how beautiful the leaves on the tree outside our front window look. I don't remember ever noticing these spectacular colors last fall - I must have been too distracted with pregnancy and moving. Finally today I sat Audrey down in front of it for pictures. Audrey was a good model even though it was cold and windy. She didn't even try to eat any of the leaves.

Yesterday Audrey and I went with Amber and Brylen to a forest preserve near their house. We walked along the trails and saw remains of old buildings, a japanese garden and a windmill you can see in the background of this picture.

our morning

Every day Audrey and I have the same routine. Nursing, playing, eating breakfast, napping(only her, not me unfortunately). Here are some of today's activities documented.

Audrey playing piano for an audience. Todd has taught her how to say bear. At least we think it is bear. It sounds the same as ball and a one-syllable version of when we think she is saying baby.

Audrey acquired her love for the rubber duck in water babies class.

Today she started signing eat! She has been doing milk and finished for months.
The Chiquita sticker started on her hand but quickly went in her mouth. She ate her entire breakfast with it on her forehead. Is it wrong to have some fun at the expense of your baby?

friends of claude (klōd)

Our friends John and Steve made the journey from Chicago today to meet Audrey. Not only did they travel far to see us, they came baring cute baby gifts. We went to Mongolian Barbeque for lunch where Audrey showed off her best moves like dancing, blowing kisses and sharing Cheerios.

eating leaves

Yesterday we went to Riverwalk with Sara, Jack and Emma. Jack and Emma played at the amphitheater while Audrey, as usual, just wanted to eat leaves. Afterwards we went over to Sara's where Audrey followed Jack and Emma around all over the house.

The leaves were just too tempting

Jack having fun throwing leaves

Emma took a while to warm up to idea of playing in the leaves

Getting giggles out of the usually serious baby

the stand

I've started another home improvement project, this time painting the kitchen cabinets. This means Audrey is confined upstairs again to avoid paint fumes and scattered wet cabinet doors. Thank goodness Todd's parents came over yesterday to help. While they were here, Audrey stood on her own for the first time for about five seconds. It might have lasted longer if I hadn't scared her by excitedly yelling "she's standing, she's standing!"

Audrey and Todd before the kitchen mess began. It is not very often Audrey stops being busy to just sit and chill.

dinner

Last night we went to dinner with Sara, Mike, Jack and Emma. Audrey showed Mike the food contents of her mouth repeatedly while Jack completed the kids menu activities with ease and Emma played with jelly and told jokes. A sample of an Emma joke: "Knock, knock. Who's there? Orange. Orange who? Don't cry, it's just a joke." A little off but super cute!!

eleven months

There are so many new things Audrey has learned to do during the last month. I started writing all of them down because they have become so many I am worried I will forget. My favorites are clapping, saying yum and yuck, dancing, giving kisses, blowing kisses, feeding Todd and I Cheerios, singing "ba ba ba" along with songs and waving at birds in the sky and light fixtures. Each new thing amazes me and makes it even more fun to be around her.
