super halloween

Audrey trick or treated with neighbor Colin and his friend Emma. She went up to the first house but wouldn't take the candy. The second house had a dog so she didn't go up the step to the door. At the third house she wouldn't even go on the sidewalk to the door. At the fourth house she saw a boy in a scary costume (the grim reaper and it was pretty scary) and lost it. That was the end of Audrey's trick or treating. There is always next year. Happy Halloween!

samba de amigo

Susan brought over another Wii game tonight, this one we had to shake the controllers like maracas to music. Usually Audrey is just given a controller that isn't even on and will have a great time jumping around thinking she is actually playing the game. Tonight we plugged her in and found out the girl has some rhythm!

nine months, the stats

Our happy boy had a checkup yesterday. Charlie is 21 pounds and 28 5/8 inches tall. As one of the nurses said, he is "growing like a weed." Audrey thought that was really funny and has repeated it about one hundred times.

nine months

Charlie, my boy, you are nine months old! You're growing so fast and the funny thing is, it seems like it's not nearly fast enough for you. You're so full of energy, so full of life, it's hard for us to keep up!

You've been crawling on your belly for a month, but now you're getting up on all fours and trying for real. You're really close, you'll be there in no time at all. Even crazier is the fact that you're trying to pull yourself up on furniture too. Charlie, I'm not ready for this yet!

You love to babble and "sing" all the time, almost as much as you love to flash us your huge smile. Eating is one of your favorite things, though I'll be happy when you get out of the stick-everything-in-my-mouth phase. Perhaps your greatest joy in the world is to play with your big sister, which could not make us happier. It's been a great ride so far, little guy, we can't wait to see what's ahead!

sprinkles make me smile

Sarah came over for a playdate this morning and brought cookies. How did she know Audrey is such a big fan of sprinkles?

And while Audrey got to eat cookies, Charlie wanted to bite Audrey's nose.

pumpkin, pumpkin pie

This year, Audrey wanted nothing to do with pumpkin carving. It was hard just to get her to sit next to it for pictures. Charlie, on the other hand, was all too eager to get by the pumpkin so he could try to chew on it.

celebrating silas

Silas turns three tomorrow and we got to celebrate with him today. After pizza, cake and cookies, the skies cleared and we were able to walk around the nature center.

While in the city, we took a trip through our old neighborhood then went to one of our favorite thai restaurants for dinner. Audrey thought her noodles were fine but Todd and I really enjoyed our old usual dishes. Oh, Cozy Noodle, how we miss you!

fall

It was so nice out today Audrey and I were happy to run around, play jump rope and admire the changing colors in the yard while Charlie slept.

When Charlie is let loose on the floor the first place he now goes is the cat door that leads to the basement. I know one day we are going to find him half way through trying to follow Natasha down the stairs.

Audrey's pumpkin is named Audrey

Audrey missed two weeks of her school while sick. This week was the last week of this session. Audrey says her pumpkin is a boy and his name is Audrey.

While Audrey was in class Charlie and I snuck out to the playground. I realized that we went the entire summer without putting this boy in a swing. Well I am glad we did this today because he loved it. He smiled and laughed the entire time.

poseurs

We already had the camera out, so during lunch today we each grabbed a kid and posed for some more photos.

pumpkins

It's becoming a tradition: the yearly trip to the pumpkin farm with Nana and Papa! We were very sad to discover that the "how tall this fall" had gone missing this time around; we were really looking forward to seeing how much Audrey had grown as well as trying to get Charlie to stand for a photo. We did get some shots of kids sitting with pumpkins, so all is good.

It was little chilly, but the sun was shining which made for a nice day at the farm.

Workers were moving crates of pumpkins around with a forklift which scared Audrey. She somehow found the courage to brave the pumpkin washing station with Papa to clean off her gourd.

Kuiper's is famous for its doughnuts, no way were we going to pass those up. Audrey even had her own cider-sipper which was a hit.

It's hard to believe, but we don't really have any photos of our family now that we're a foursome. Now we just have to aim for some good photos of the four of us...

diaper changing

Audrey's helpful streak continued tonight when she asked if she could change Charlie's diaper. Diaper changes have become wrestling matches because Charlie just will not sit still. Audrey gave it her best try but I had to finish the job.

feeding and clapping

For the first time Audrey asked if she could feed Charlie today. I always worry that she won't be gentle enough with him but she did a great job, even if she did tire of it pretty quickly.

Another first at lunch was Charlie clapping on his own. He must have needed to express the extra excitement he was feeling with the special attention from his big sister.

peel stick repeat

Audrey's cold last week turned into an ear infection and then she got her worst case of hives yet. She still has a few spots left (even after six days of steroids) but is feeling better so we started decorating for Halloween today.

thirty-four months

Audrey has a very bad cold so there were no pictures taken today to commemorate 34 months. Instead, more pictures from out time at the museum on Friday.

I love how Audrey was taking a bite of her sandwich with gusto ...

... and then the look on her face when she didn't like the bread. I give her credit for even trying.

Audrey is such a little person I sometimes forget that she is only two.

science and industry

Family field trip! Audrey rode the metra into the city with Todd this morning and then went into the office with him. Charlie and I picked them up later in the morning and we all went to the museum of science and industry.

The morning commute

Audrey's favorite exhibit at the museum, she could have watched the chicks in the hatchery all day

Probably the most fun Charlie had was looking at himself in the reflection at the model trains
