best friend

Audrey has loved her stuffed white kitten since her cousin Imani gave it to her months ago. She sleeps with it every night, makes the "meow" sound for it and gives it hugs and kisses often. The last few days she wants it to be a part of everything she does...

like drinking milk,

eating bananas,

and clapping for herself for being a good girl and not throwing her sippy on the floor.

She even brought it on our walk this morning with Emma and Jake.

getting there

I got a break from pushing Audrey on her riding toy as now she can push this one herself too. She did one lap last night and did several more this morning. She just needs help steering around the turns.
I do think that this and her wagon are helping with learning to walk. It won't be long now!

She placed the stuffed cat on the seat herself.

bunny

The other night a bunny was hanging out right by the house; Audrey was intrigued.

welcome, Grant!

Audrey has a new cousin! My twin brother Kurt and his wife Erika had their second child this morning shortly after 8am, a beautiful 8 pound, 14 ounce boy named Grant. Grandma Channamom watched Audrey in the hospital waiting room while I met Grant a few hours after he was born.

bear is her co-pilot

Todd went into the city to rock out with the boys, so it was just us girls at home for a pajama day today. I spent a lot of time pushing Audrey through the house on her riding toy, which she just loves.

weekend visit

Bridget and Dave came out from the big city to meet Audrey for the first time today. After finding a place that was actually open for lunch on the weekend, the girl entertained her visitors with a show of her hair styling skills.

breakfast

Audrey and I have had breakfast plans two days in a row with friends we haven't seen in a while. Audrey mostly ignored her friends except to point and say "baby" periodically.

Today we met up with Amber and Brylen. We pushed Audrey and Brylen's seats together before we left to see if we could get them to acknowledge each other (and for a blog photo, of course).

Yesterday we dined with Jamila and Emma. I can't get over how happy and smiley Emma always is.

healthy teeth and gums

And when she was done, she pretended to brush her teeth until we put her to bed.

Bonus: the girl can brush her own hair too

national pie day celebration

Yes, today was National Pie Day. We were invited to join friends Susan and Jeremy in celebrating with a piece of free pie at Baker's Square.

When Audrey wasn't entertaining everyone by saying her newest word "butt" she amused herself with a straw

Post-pie group shot - you would think we would look happier after free pie

Audrey (almost) walks!

The girl is getting pretty close to walking on her own. She's been "cruising" for a while, but only recently has she begun to hold herself up under her own power. This weekend she's been taking a step or two and falling into our arms, which may not sound like much but is pretty amazing for her parents. The video shows her pushing her wagon, which is serving well as a bridge into the wonderful world of walking. It won't be long now...

morning coffee

This morning we met Sara, Jack and Emma out for coffee. Jack and Emma (wearing the tutu we gave her for her birthday) busied themselves coloring and completing activity sheets. When they did get antsy Sara convinced them to pretend to drink coffee by themselves on a couch on the other side of the cafe. Genius! Audrey's chair was on wheels so she had fun spinning in circles when she wasn't trying to give Sara kisses.

storytime

I signed Audrey up for lapsit storytime at the library and we had our first meeting today. Audrey was not much of a joiner, she mostly sat back and observed the other moms and babies. At one point she laid down on the floor and propped her chin in her hands watching the librarian. It was awfully cute.

Audrey before we left for the library. Today is a crazy hair day.

january playgroup

Our monthly playgroup with the moms and babies from our class at the hospital was today. Jonathon and Noah are already walking! I hope Audrey watched and learned.

Being silly with Jake

Audrey was the only girl today with Jonathan, Noah, Jake and Luke (I never seem to get pictures of Luke!)

I hear this has some good hockey action

happy third birthday, Emma!

Audrey was invited to Emma's princess tea birthday party this morning.

The birthday girl honored guests with a tap dance performance

Crafty Sara made princess crowns for all of the girls in attendance - so cute!

Audrey had fun at the party, especially playing with the bead necklace party favors

the hot side

Since Saturday Audrey has had a cold with a runny nose, low fever and trouble sleeping. She had a pediatrician appointment today and we found out she has her first ear infection.

Despite not feeing well Audrey is still in a good enough mood to rock it out on her guitar and have fun looking through clear plastic bowls.

thirteen months

It has been quite a month having a one-year old. We had so much fun with Audrey over the holidays and celebrating Todd's birthday. She picked up a few new words, the most recent being "dude" just two nights ago. She thinks it is hilarious every time she says it. Audrey has 12 teeth now, four of them molars that have brought fevers and a lot of extra sleep. The weather has kept us inside more than we would like - thank goodness we have all of those new birthday and christmas toys to play with. Over the last week Audrey has decided she wants to wean and that soy milk will soon be the only milk for her. I had hoped this would be a mutual decision but, alas, she has made it for us.
In this new year we are excited about all of the new experiences we will get to share with Audrey as she understands more and more about the world around her!

where is baby's belly button

Audrey received the book named above for her birthday from aunt Pam-o and uncle Marc. She loves when we read it and often points her own belly button out. She does pretty good showing us the other body parts in the book (hands, feet, mouth), except those couple of times she has thought her eyes are on the top of her head.

Rolling around like a crazy baby first thing in the morning.

happy new year

Audrey celebrated the new year by letting her parents sleep in until almost 9am today! We got her another push toy with hopes that at some point early in this new year she will use it to start walking. For now she is content crawling but at least when she is ready to walk along anything other than furniture she will have plenty of help.

She only stood by it long enough to get a picture - all day she pushed it around the house while crawling

Audrey has recently started making a scrunchy face when smiling

The first push toy - she would rather get pushed on it, rather than walk behind and push it herself
