The Java Sea Pirate part 8

Secret messages tapped out in Morse code while trapped on a sub - where have I seen this before? No worries, Johnny, it's a method that works; I'm not calling you a copy-cat or anything.

I love the momma's boy taunts, by the way...what a bad guy!

I don't know what Johnny's trying to accomplish with this plan, but it seems to be working out the way he's planned. That said, I have but one question: how cool is that helicopter?!

The Java Sea Pirate part 4

I figured this "pirate" would look a little scarier, especially given Brandy's reaction. Still, I can't fault her for her screams; that can't be a nice way to wake up! Talk about creepy...

I sure hope Johnny can figure out a way to get this guy.

The Java Sea Pirate part 3

I tell you, the Java Sea seems like a dangerous place to me. I really like the look of that submarine; Frank Robbins was pretty much the greatest, huh?

I've been asked recently by some of my loyal visitors to post certain strips. Since I'm such a generous guy, I'm throwing some Johnny Hazard up today. This is an early one, back when the Sundays were still going for humor...

This week I'm at school all day, so I'm putting these up a little earlier than usual. Don't know how much access I'll even have to a computer--I'm going to be spending the day playing with books printed some 400 years ago. Should be fun. Now go check in with Johnny & try not to be jealous...

Isn't this story unfolding nicely? Robbins keeps it moving quickly without everything seeming like it's rushed. He was good like that.

reprint books I'm glad I own

Back in early July, I blogged a little about some Dragon Lady Press reprint books that never came out, but wanted nonetheless. I made a serious error though with Johnny Hazard 4, a book that not only hit store shelves, but one that now rests on my own. Toth on the outside, Robbins on the inside, delicious.

Johnny Hazard in "The Forgotten Garrison!" parts I and II

Frank Robbins is simply one of the greatest cartoonists ever, it's amazing to me that he isn't celebrated even more than he already is in our tiny comic strip fan commnuity. There's so much to like about Johnny Hazard, truly a masterful synthesis of exciting action and beautiful illustration. If you're new to his world, you're in for a treat.

Johnny Hazard's wartime funnies

Hey folks, Johnny Hazard again. Just wanted to give you a chuckle before we get to the serious stuff tomorrow. Here's a little incident that happened back in the war. We all had a laugh at my friend Brandy's expense with this one. Don't worry, she can take it with the best of 'em.

Johnny Hazard takes off

Hey adventure fans, Johnny Hazard here. I've been waiting for the right time to make my move, and the time is now. Thrillmer's been getting soft, thinking he can get away without posting anything for you all on Saturdays. Well, he's got another thing coming. I've noticed something else, too. He's got the mid Forties covered with Buz and the mid Sixties with Scratch. That's why, come Saturday, I'm going to start my tale of the Forgotten Garrison from 1955. Don't miss it!

The other day Steven Wintle, formerly of Flat Earth! fame, pointed me in the direction of a most amazing Johnny Hazard discussion at the Drawing Board Forum. There is plenty of back and forth from some very talented creators, and lots (and lots!) of Johnny Hazard scans. If you're a Frank Robbins fan (and if you're not, what on earth is stopping you???) you'll want to check it out.

Hopefully we'll be seeing some JH adventures on this very site in the near future. Pity my poor scanner...
