Farewell for now, Flyin' Jenny

Thanks for all the excitement, intrigue, and romance you've provided us these past few months (no thanks for the Cyril though, I hate that kid!)

Feel free to drop by anytime, Jenny! You're always welcome here...

Sunken ships

Somehow I knew they'd make it out of there.

And that wraps up up our Flyin' Jenny adventures for now. Next week another classic adventure strip gets its turn on the Sunday stage. Who will it be..?

from bad to worse for Jenny Dare

This is the last of my murky b&w Flyin' Jenny run; luckily I have some cleaner scans to finish out this story. After we get to the end of this tale in a couple weeks, someone new will be taking the stage. But for now, enjoy Jenny's daring exploits. As you can see she's in quite a spot today...

Jenny's true colors

Back when I started putting up Sunday pages on Sundays, I intended for them to be in color. Unfortunately, most of my Flying Jenny strips are in black & white. Murky b&w at that. So today is a special treat as I am able to present this installment in both. Enjoy.

what is wrong with you, sharks?

I was so hoping Cyril was going to be eaten! Looks like these mysterious strangers are going to come to the rescue...

...but can we trust these mysterious strangers? They're already displaying the sort of sexism I'd expect from a pair of villains.

Flyin' Jenny to the rescue, sort of...

You already know I'm rooting for the sharks, I can't stand this kid.

Is there anyone out there who DOESN'T want this kid to be lost at sea?

We're not buying it, Jenny. Not at all.

3 times the Cyril doesn't necessarily mean 3 times the fun

I don't know if this makes me a cruel person, but I really was hoping this would be the end of Cyril! The paper doll didn't bode well...

My thoughts exactly.

I wish I could say this is the last we're going to see of him.

Flyin' Jenny takes off again

Seems like I'm always apologizing for my poor time management skills; your ol' pal thrillmer never meant to see Jenny Dare grounded for so long. She's back today in an exciting story, and will continue to fly these airways on Sundays for the forseeable future.

Spinner's a bad winner...

Flyin' Jenny loses the battle but hopefully not the war in today's strips. Plus, in Jenny's Style Show, we have an entry from my old stomping grounds, DeKalb, Illinois! Let's hear it for corn country!

Jenny Dare takes the challenge

Just because she's the star of the strip didn't save Jenny from experiencing a whole lot of good ol' fashioned sexism. Here's to hoping she makes that jerk Spinner eat his words before too long...

paper dolls

One of the fun things about Flyin' Jenny is the inclusion of paper dolls on Sundays. I found two versions of the same strip for today, note the difference in the dolls. My guess is this anomaly is due to the region of the country where these individual strips each ran. If anybody out there has a more informed idea, let the rest of us know. For now, enjoy.

Flyin' Jenny takes off!

Introducing the high flyin' Jenny Dare. She is the creation of Russell Keaton, who worked on Buck Rogers and Skyroads prior to striking out on his with Flyin' Jenny. Jenny is one of the few leading ladies in the world of adventure strips, and I think you'll find that Keaton created in her a worthy character, able to stand tall along side her peers.
